XX (DNS) / volcán rumiñahui (15,194’)

11/23/25: Fresh off a plane from NYC, my buddy Kyle was eager for a short walk in the high Andes. We joined some friends (Gunthar, Kevin, Huong & Robb) for a Sunday morning jaunt up Rumiñahui.

We quickly ran into some challenges (new permit requirements from the National Park) and then poor weather. However, our group made it to the final beautiful ridge before the last summit push. We had to turn around there at the behest of the park ranger due to the worsening weather.

Despite no summit, a lovely day out in nature with good people - can’t ask for more than that. Tip of the cap to Kyle, who rocked the hike despite burning lungs!
